Bed Bug Extermination

Proudly serving: Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph & Niagara.

Bed bugs can be unknowingly transported into homes on luggage, clothing, furniture, and other personal belongings, making them a common issue throughout Ontario. Finding bed bugs in your home can be stressful, but an infestation can be effectively managed with professional treatment.

Bed bug extermination involves identifying areas where bed bugs are hiding and using targeted pest control products to eliminate active insects and newly emerging bed bugs. Treatment should begin as soon as possible since bed bugs can quickly spread between rooms and hide deep inside mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and small cracks, making them increasingly difficult to control as the infestation grows.

At Elite Pest & Wildlife Removal, our licensed pest control technicians use professional-grade chemical products, not heat treatment, to target bed bugs in their hiding and travel areas. With careful treatment, proper preparation, and appropriate follow-up, we can help eliminate bed bugs and restore comfort to your home.

Signs of Bed Bug Activity

Bed bugs are much more than a nuisance. These small, persistent pests feed on blood while people sleep and can leave itchy, uncomfortable bites that make it difficult to feel at ease in your own home.

Because bed bugs reproduce quickly and can be difficult to eliminate with store-bought products alone, early professional treatment is important to control the infestation before it becomes more widespread and difficult to manage.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Common signs include live bed bugs, small reddish or dark spots on bedding, shed skins, tiny eggs, and activity around mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, and nearby furniture. Some people also develop itchy bites, although bites alone cannot confirm a bed bug infestation.

We use Aprehend® as part of our professional bed bug treatment approach. Aprehend is a biopesticide containing fungal spores that are applied strategically to areas where bed bugs are likely to travel. When bed bugs cross treated surfaces, they can pick up the spores and carry them back into harbourage areas.

Aprehend contains spores of the naturally occurring fungus Beauveria bassiana. Bed bugs that cross a treated area pick up the spores, which subsequently infect them. Because bed bugs frequently return to shared hiding areas, exposed insects can also help transfer spores to other bed bugs.

No, we do not offer heat treatment. We specialize in professional chemical and targeted residual treatment methods rather than whole-home heat treatment. This allows us to treat important bed bug travel and harbourage areas while using products designed to remain effective after the technician leaves.

One important advantage of our treatment approach is residual control. Heat works while the property is maintained at lethal temperatures, but it does not leave behind an ongoing residual treatment once the home cools. Products such as Aprehend can remain active on treated surfaces for an extended period when applied and maintained according to the product label, allowing bed bugs that emerge or cross these areas later to encounter the treatment.

Preparation requirements depend on the property and treatment plan. You may be asked to reduce clutter, provide access around beds and furniture, follow specific laundry instructions, and avoid moving belongings unnecessarily between rooms. We provide preparation instructions before treatment so you know exactly what needs to be done.

Occupants and pets need to remain outside treated areas during application and for approximately 4 hours. Your technician will provide specific re-entry instructions based on the products used and conditions in your home. Following these directions is important for safe and effective treatment.

Our licensed technicians apply professional-grade products according to their labels and established safety requirements. Treatment is targeted to appropriate areas, and we provide clear preparation and re-entry instructions for households with children and pets.

You may continue to notice some bed bug activity after the initial service. Bed bugs can remain hidden in small cracks and harbourage areas, and eggs may hatch after treatment. Residual products are intended to target insects as they emerge and move across treated areas, so seeing occasional activity shortly afterward does not necessarily mean treatment has failed.

Not necessarily. Finding bed bugs does not automatically mean a mattress or furniture needs to be discarded. Improperly moving infested items through the home can actually spread bed bugs to other areas. Speak with your technician before disposing of furniture so it can be evaluated as part of the treatment plan.
